• EDD in Educational Leadership-Focusing on the effects of trauma - Author of Making Sense of Suicide, A Surviving Family’s Story
• 13 years as an educator at all grade levels ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.
• I was seven years old when my father committed suicide. 

Joanne has been a community member for over 30 years. She has two sons who attended Barrington High School and is a founder of the Dylan Balogh Foundation.
